1.  Annual CPE Banquet | Friday, May 19, 2017

Please join us for the annual CPE Banquet scheduled for Friday, May 19, 2017.

Time: 6 – 7pm Social Hour & 7:00-10:00 Dinner
Location: Madonna Inn, San Luis Obispo, CA

2. Career Services Spring Quarter Update


Goldman Sachs Visit on Tuesday, April 18
·         Attend the Goldman Sachs Professional Networking and Fireside Chat with Peter Oppenheimer(flyer attached with more details)
·         The event is intended for undergraduate freshmen and sophomores interested in learning about firmwide opportunities.

Spring Career Fair on Wednesday & Thursday, April 19 and 20
·         Network with employers from 9:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Rec Center Gyms

·         Come to a ‘Preparing for the Career Fair’ workshop to help you be a standout candidate (dates/times on the attached flyer)

Current Solutions Tech Talk
Where: Building 180, Room 102
When: Tuesday, April 11th 6pm-8pm

Did you know that law enforcement can’t actually track your cell phone? Or that the average law enforcement response time is isn’t moments, it’s 18 minutes? SafeRoute is a comprehensive safety alert system in your hands. It let’s you see where your friends are, and be notified if they deviate too far from a pre-set route. You’ll receive emergency notifications when a loved one is unsafe and can, with the push of a button, activate emergency settings like dispatching the police to a user's exact GPS location, or calls on the help of nearby app users in the community, among several other features. The SafeRoute team is coming to discuss topics ranging from: hardware and software development to the security and technology sectors from the perspective of entrepreneurs currently in the space.

Xilinx Tech Talk

WISH and IEEE- Informational Session Hosted by Xilinx Date & Time: April 19th at 6:00pm
Speakers: Marc Baker, Applications Engineer Eva Condron Wells, Sr. Manager Talent Development Julie Bergman, University Relations Specialist           
Summary: Our speakers will be presenting about Xilinx, the culture and the products that use our chips. We will also discuss our current opening for entry level professionals. We are accepting resumes from May 2017 grads and students looking for 2017 summer internship opportunities.

Wish 10 Year Anniversary Event!

Where: Building 65, Room 220
When: Saturday, May 6th 12pm-3pm

WISH is coming up on its 10 year anniversary and we want to celebrate it! This event will include lunch, a past WISH presidents panel, and the opportunity to talk to Cal Poly WISH alumni and current students. We would love as many alumni and current students to celebrate WISH's growth as a club over the past 10 years :) Hope to see you there!

4. AIAS Foundation Scholarship Application

·  The Randy Pausch Scholarship, which awards $2,500 scholarships, supports students pursuing careers in the development of interactive entertainment, including art, animation, programming, engineering, game design, sound design, and music composition. 
·  The Mark Beaumont Scholarship, which awards $2,500 scholarships, supports students pursuing careers specializing in the business of interactive entertainment, including management, law, marketing, public relations, and business development. 
·  The WomenIn Scholarship, which awards $2,500 scholarships, seeks to support inclusion of more women in the interactive entertainment industry. This scholarship supports women-identifying students pursuing game development or the business of interactive entertainment. 
The Academy scholarships from the previous academic year honored students from a range of disciplines, including future designers, artists and programmers. Seventeen promising students hailing from esteemed programs at schools such as New York University, Carnegie Melon University, University of Southern California and Additional information on last year’s winners can be found here: http://www.aiasfoundation.org/programs/scholarship_winners.asp
To qualify, applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.3, and be a full-time student and attend an accredited college or university in the United States during the 2017-2018 academic school year.

5. The Department of Women's & Gender Studies is offering NINE scholarships

The Department of Women's & Gender Studies is offering NINE scholarships ranging from $550 to $2,000 for the 2017-18 academic year. 
Student applications for these scholarships are due by F 4/14. 
In order to be considered, students must submit:
·  a resume
·  a letter describing their eligibility for a specific scholarship (or scholarships)
·  a letter of recommendation from a Cal Poly faculty or staff member

Eligibility information:
·  FIVE scholarships are available for Ralph R. Wilmar Scholarship.
·  Amounts listed is amount per scholarship winner.
·  Graduate students are also eligible for all scholarships (except the Perryman). 
·  Please make sure that the student you are nominating will be attending Cal Poly full-time in Fall 2017.
More information on eligibility for each individual scholarship is provided in the attached flyer and at http://wgs.calpoly.edu/2017-18-scholarships.
