Imposter Syndrome Panel
Advance Technology Lab Building 7
Tuesday May 3rd @ 6pm – 8pm
Please join WISH for a panel discussing Imposter Syndrome. For those unfamiliar with this ideology, the Imposter Syndrome is the notion in which people are unable to internalize their accomplishments; they often attribute their successes to luck or a mistake, but their failures to a lack of skill. This panel will consist of two members from industry (Mindbody and Amazon San Luis Obispo), two professors from the Computer Science Department, and one graduating senior of Computer Science. The panel will focus on tackling this issue and what can be proactively done to eliminate this syndrome from our daily lifestyles. Food will be provided!

5. Student positions available within the ASI A/V Department

Are you interested in working for ASI starting now or next fall?  We have a couple of positions open (listed below) on our Event Management team.  We offer very flexible hours, great work experience, and on-the-job training.  We are looking for more engineering students to join our team because they have been fantastic for our department!

Audio Visual Technician

Audio Visual Student Manager
While this position would manage the technicians, the applicant does not necessarily need to have A/V experience.  We are looking for someone who is professional, reliable, organized and who is good at scheduling, supervising, and leading fellow peers.  This position would be great for anyone looking for a career in Events, Project Management, A/V Production, or University Administration.

9. Apple Computer is Looking for Software Developer Intern

We write factory diagnostics for all current and upcoming Mac products. Essentially, each member on the team owns a few technologies and we write tests that interface with those hardware components. When a computer is being built in the factory it will run our tests to ensure everything is working, and if not, we debug along with software and hardware teams to figure out what is going wrong (this means a couple trips to China a year). If you take your Mac into AppleCare, they will also run our tests to determine if a hardware component is failing. The code is a combination of C and Objective-C, but I really didn't have much experience in Objective-C when I started. I would say the job is about 50% Coding, 30% Looking at hardware diagrams, 10% Meetings, 10% Talking with/Going to China.

7. Talk on Global Water Crisis to be Held April 6 | Spanos Theater | 7pm

Author Seth Siegel will present “The Imminent Global Water Crisis” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, in Spanos Theatre. Siegel, a board member of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, is the author of “Let There Be Water,” a recently published book in which he describes the world’s water crisis and posits that Israel’s water engineering and innovative processes can provide a solution. The U.S. government predicts that 40 of its 50 states — and 60 percent of the Earth's land surface — will soon face alarming gaps between the supply and growing demand for water. Without immediate action, it is anticipated that food prices will rise, economic growth will slow, and political instability will likely result. For more information, visit the Cal Poly News website.
