2. Eta
Kappa Nu? Eta Kappa You!
The EE and ECE departments are working together to bring Eta
Kappa Nu, the Electrical and Computer Engineering Honor Society, back to
campus! This organization was founded over 100 years ago to honor hard working
and otherwise exceptional engineers in our technical areas. It is also an
organization dedicated to service, and members often engage in activities like
tutoring, outreach, event planning, and you name it! To bring the organization
back, we'll need the help of a few dedicated students to take on initial
leadership roles in the club. If you're a sophomore, junior, senior, or masters
student and think you might be interested in helping to get the Cal Poly
chapter up and running again, please email Professor Danowitz
(adanowit@calpoly.edu).

5. Offering: EE
422/PHYS 422 – Polymer Electronics Laboratory
This laboratory course introduces experimental
procedures in polymer electronics used to fabricate and test the
characteristics of solid state electronic devices. The student will be able to
make an electronic device based on a semiconducting polymer and characterize
its performance. Students may enroll for either one or more units. Students
enrolling for one unit will make and characterize the performance of a solid
state electronic device. Students enrolling for more units will also design,
carry out, and document an experiment in a manner that is suitable for
submission as a peer-reviewed journal article or as a patent application.
Pre-requisite EE 347, MATE 340, CHEM 319, or PHYS 340.
-----------
6. Offering: IME
457 – Advanced Electronic Manufacturing
Dr. Tali Freed is offering IME 457 in the winter
quarter. IME 457 is an advanced electronics manufacturing class. Students
interested in the electronics industry or in the entrepreneurial
aspects of electronic product development may want to consider this highly multidisciplinary
class. Prerequisite: EE 201, IME 156 or IME 157.
-----------
7. Offering: BRAE 450

specification and practical installation experience. The project-based
laboratory will involve the students in the installation of a residential or
commercial (community service) system and/or an on-campus grid-tie system.
No textbook. Library and web research will be required. Some
individual self-study or skill-building will be required for most students.
Considerable time outside of the scheduled laboratory meeting will be required,
in particular, two weekends for the project work and one full day for the field
trip. Do not enroll in this course if your schedule does not permit this
flexibility. Course is open-enrollment at discretion of the student. Basic
engineering knowledge and some prior hands-on project experience will be
expected.

Robotics club is looking for CPE students
interested in computer vision and machine learning to take part in an
autonomous foosball table. The mechanical side has been completed so the
majority of the work is in the computer vision software. Currently the table
plays at a beginner level and tracks the ball's location but there is much room
for improvement.
