iOS made apps today with one main purpose: to not have a purpose. Experimenting with different controls from our UI toolbox lead to some interesting and funny combinations including ducks that dance and Eric-themed variables. Next week, we’ll make our apps do crazier things by integrating sensors and getting more familiar with iOS. Soon we’ll be starting a capture the flag app, so stay tuned.

Team Android continues their work on the Firebase backend for their ClubHunter mobile app. This previous Saturday we implemented logins and the ability to create new user accounts for use with the app. Next week, we’ll be looking at building out further our backend and integrating it with the app.

Non-technical Tips for Transforming Technical Presentations

As researchers and scientists we strive to become experts in our field.  However, when sharing our work with others, a deep technical focus during presentations may not be the ideal way to convey information.  We will discuss strategies and skills that are designed to transform typical technical "information-dump" style slides into meaningful and engaging presentations that inspire and spark innovation.
