7. Job Opportunity in the EE Department
#981711 Electrical and Computer Engineering - Electronic & Computer Lab Support Assistant
Electrical Engineering announces job opportunities for Undergrads and Graduate students who meet the qualifications to work as lecture/lab assistants and graders in a variety of classes.
Undergraduate students apply as Instructional Student Assistants (ISA). An ISA will provide tutoring, grading, or instruction to other CSU students for 50% or more of their work hours in a given appointment in a given academic department or equivalent administrative unit over the course of an academic term. In this appointment, the incumbent will provide student support in labs, grading, test proctoring, and overall classroom support for Electrical Engineering lectures and labs. Please see below for faculty looking for graders/lab assistants who fulfill these criteria.
The minimum qualification for an Instructional Student Assistant is admission or registration as a CSU student as well as meeting the requested criteria for the class for which you are providing support. Please check with the jobs listed below for additional minimum qualifications as specified by each Professor. The University reserves the sole discretion to override the minimum qualifications.
To apply for these positions please contact the Professor associated with the classes on the attached list (list updated periodically). Once the Professor approves acceptance of your application the professor will contact the Administrative Analyst for the Electrical Engineering Department requesting completion of the application procedure. The applicant also contacts the Department Administrative Analyst with their name and employee ID for the completion of the application. Supervisory directions will come directly from the Professor of the class.
The hiring criteria are dependent on the applicants qualifications and successful interview with the professor. Hours to work will not exceed 20 hours per week. The rate of pay is $12.50 per hour for Undergrads and $14.00 per hour for Graduate Students.

I hope that you had a great summer and are enjoying the beginning of the new school year! This is a friendly reminder that the 2018 Lemelson-MIT Student Prize Initial Application deadline of September 29, 2017 is fast approaching. We would be delighted if you could please share this information with your networks and encourage eligible students to apply, if you have not done so already.
The Lemelson-MIT Student Prize is a national invention competition that recognizes individual graduate students who have tested prototypes of two or more inventions and teams of undergraduate students with a tested prototype of one invention.
The competition is open to full-time, degree-seeking students (as of the spring semester of 2018) with technology-based inventions in healthcare, food/water and agriculture, transportation, and consumer devices. Inventions are not limited to class projects or thesis work, and any side/personal projects could also be considered. Patents are encouraged but not required. In each of the four categories, graduate students are awarded $15,000 and undergraduate teams are awarded $10,000.
Please help spread the word and encourage inventive students to apply by either forwarding this message or referring a student directly to me, and I would be happy to follow up.
