Women in Cyber Security Scholarship
Morphisec is offering a Women in Cyber Security Scholarship that is also open to computer science students who are interested in entering the cyber security field.
It’s only open to U.S. and Israeli citizens and permanent legal residents (the company has headquarters in Israel and the US). The deadline is May 15. Any who apply would stand a good chance for at least one of the awards (there are 3 – $2500, $1500, $1000).

APIFSA Scholarship
The Asian Pacific Islander Faculty & Staff Association (APIFSA) is offering one or more scholarships for Cal Poly students totaling $1200. The application is here: https://tinyurl.com/ych5phmy
To be eligible, students need to be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student during Fall 2018 and have a minimum cumulative CP GPA of 2.5. Preference is given to students with demonstrated financial need and who have made significant contributions to Asian American/Pacific Islander communities. Deadline is May 18, 2018.

ASME Conference
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers is hosting a conference on Saturday May 19th. We will have short, 15 minute talks about topics such as AI Ethics, Light Electric Vehicles, Semiconductors, and Designing for Startups. These talks will be told by a blend of Cal Poly faculty and industry professionals. All majors are welcome! The event will be in the ATL (Building 7) from 10am-5pm. The CPE Office is in the process of recruiting CPE Mentors for this coming Fall 2018. We are looking for 40 - 45 motivated students to mentor the incoming freshmen (as part of their CPE100 course) during the 2018 fall quarter. We've gotten positive feedback from students who have participated in the past. And all you need in order to be a successful mentor is a desire to have fun and help others.

Stretch your fingers and assemble your friends! Join us for a “security triathlon” to learn and compete in software hacking, traditional lockpicking, and tearing down hardware at iFixit! Gather your team of around 3-5 people and come tackle whatever events interest you most. There are a limited number of slots available for teams, so register early. Don’t have all the skills yourself? That’s ok, you can either team up with someone who does or pick up skills on the fly. You don’t need to be an expert! Each event will have coaches available to help.

Career Services has organized a tour of local employer Tapestry Solutions (a global provider of information management software and services for defense, government and commercial customers) on Friday, May 18 from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Students will have the chance to learn about current job openings and meet with staff at their San Luis Obispo office. Tapestry Solutions is currently hiring for 3 positions in SLO (Software Tester I Part-Time, Software Developer I Part-Time, and Software Engineering Lead - Java), as well as other roles throughout the US and internationally.
