Office STILL Needs Mentors for Fall 2019
The CPE
Office is in the process of recruiting CPE Mentors for this coming Fall 2019.
We are looking for 40 - 45 motivated students to mentor the incoming freshmen
(as part of their CPE100 course) during the 2018 fall quarter. We've
gotten positive feedback from students who have participated in the past. And
all you need in order to be a successful mentor is a desire to have fun and
help others.

3. Northrop Grumman
Collaboration Project Club Meeting | Sept 26 | 20-145 | 11am
Hello engineers of Cal
Poly! We are the Northrop Grumman Collaboration Project (NGCP), a
multidisciplinary club on campus that designs and builds autonomous robots. We
have three teams which offer plenty of opportunities to get hands-on experience
in CSC, CPE, EE, ME, IME, and AERO at any skill level. Our projects include:
Vertical Take-off and
Landing aircraft (VTOL)
Unmanned Ground Vehicle
(UGV)
Mission Control

Many members of our club
receive internship and job opportunities from our sponsor, Northrop Grumman, as
well as other companies in the robotics industry. Stop by our first meeting
this Thursday (9/26) in 20-145 from 11 am - Noon for a presentation from each
of our team leads for more information on what we do! If you can't make
Thursday, feel free to come by one our workdays on Saturdays at 10 am (same
location) to learn more about the team.

The Writing and Learning
Center supports academic achievement by providing peer-to-peer learning
opportunities in a welcoming environment. All students are encouraged to engage
in free individual and small-group tutoring sessions with trained undergraduate
and graduate consultants on any activity, assignment, or exam. Writing and
subject-specific peer consultations are available in multiple locations across campus
with the main hub in Kennedy Library, Room 111C.

10. Future Science
Teachers $15,000 Scholarship | Deadline October 2
You can make a difference
by teaching K-12 science or engineering! A $15,000 Noyce FIRST Scholarship can
help you achieve that goal. Apply by Oct. 2
Noyce FIRST is a new
$15,000 scholarship program for future science and engineering teachers. FIRST
stands for “Fostering Integrated Responsive Science Teaching.” Noyce Scholars
will become science or engineering teachers who can cross disciplinary
boundaries and create engaging, inclusive classrooms.
The deadline to apply is
Wednesday, Oct. 2. The program is aimed at current junior and senior
science/engineering majors who plan to teach K-12. Use the scholarship to
complete your undergraduate degree or obtain the teaching credential. (Due to
federal funding limitations, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national, or
permanent resident.)
Scholarship recipients
must:
Commit to teach science or
engineering for two years in a high need K-12 school district for every year of
scholarship support
Participate in monthly
Noyce Seminars during 2019-20 and 2020-21
Participate for at least
one quarter in a science or engineering research project
