2. Cal Poly Student-Employer Diversity Mixer
When: Wednesday, January
22
Where: MAC at Cal Poly
Time: 6:00-8:00 p.m
Cal Poly Students: This
event will be hosted by Cal Poly Career Services, Student Academic Services and
the Cross Cultural Centers on from. This event offers students from diverse and
underrepresented backgrounds the chance to connect with employers to learn more
about their company culture and ways that their organizations support
underrepresented groups including, but not limited to: various racial and
ethnic backgrounds, religious affiliations, gender identities, citizenship,
sexual orientations, disability and socioeconomic status.
Note that this event is
not a career fair and there is no requirement for students to have resumes. The
dress code for this event is business casual which is a combination of a skirt,
dress, dress pants, blouse, sweater, or button-down shirt. Although the employers
attending will also be recruiting at the Winter Career Fair, the emphasis for
this event will be on networking and information sharing. For a list of

3. MustangsUNITED: MLK Unity March and Resource Fair
When: January 16th
Where: Dexter Lawn
Time: 11am
On behalf of
MustangsUNITED, you are all invited to the Unity March and Resource Fair
celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The march will go to UU
Plaza and Mustang Way, where a resource fair will be held providing ways for
students to get involved in justice work.

4. Cal Poly Biomedical Make-A-Thon
Date & Time: January
18th - 10am to Sunday January 19th - 4pm (check-in begins 9am on Saturday) -
This is MLK weekend, so we have Monday the 20th off.
Where: QL+ Lab
(192-130) - Participants are not
required to stay in the lab during the event
QL+, Engineering World
Health, Medical Design Club, and BMES will be hosting the second annual Cal
Poly Biomedical Make-A-Thon! Similar to a Hack-A-Thon, the Make-A-Thon is a
FREE event that will consist of a 30-hour period in which you and your team of
3-4 will compete to design, model, and create a tangible prototype to solve a
problem related to the biomedical field. You will have access to several
resources across Cal Poly, and the winning team will be presented with an
excellent prize! All majors and years are welcome to participate – no
experience required!

Womxn/Hacks is a 36-hour all-female-identifying
hackathon hosted at UC Santa Barbara. Our mission is to diversify the field of
computer science by giving womxn of all backgrounds and fields the opportunity
to delve into coding within a supportive and inclusive environment. Please fill

Computing (CWIC) is a one-day event where the Women in Computing community of
Southern California come together to network, host workshops, present research,
share stories with one another and of course, have fun. If you have any
research, projects or interested in hosting a workshop, consider attending!

Obispo High School, is proud to host the California Central Coast VEX Robotics
Competition on January 18, 2020 in the ATL, Bonderson, and Engineering Plaza

Post-Baccalaureate Research FellowshipThe Helen Fellowship is a one-year residency for post-baccalaureate women to devote time immersed in computational scientific research and educational outreach at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in New York City. The Helen Fellowship program is part of AMNH’s newest education program, BridgeUP: STEM, which is focused on the intersection of computer science and science. This residency allows Fellows to conduct research under the guidance of a museum scientist in one of the AMNH’s science divisions

12. SAE CyberAuto Challenge—Summer 2020
Calling all students interested in Automotive CyberSecurity! In its ninth year, the 2020 SAE CyberAuto
Challenge™ brings aspiring students to participate in hands-on experiences and
learn from the best cyber researchers, hackers, automotive engineers, and
academia partnered with industry in order to advance the next generation of
cyber security specialists. Acceptance to CAC is merit based so you will need
to apply. As a participant in the CyberAuto Challenge you
will take part in an intensive 4.5-day practicum-based workshop in Warren,
Michigan during Summer 2020.

The Writing and Learning
Center supports academic achievement by providing peer-to-peer learning
opportunities in a welcoming environment. All students are encouraged to engage
in free individual and small-group tutoring sessions with trained undergraduate
and graduate consultants on any activity, assignment, or exam. Writing and
subject-specific peer consultations are available in multiple locations across
campus with the main hub in Kennedy Library, Room 111C.

15. Research Opportunities
Pasulka Lab
Are
you looking for a way to apply your computer science/coding skills to
collecting data for biological research? Interested in a potential opportunity
to be involved in a publication in a peer-reviewed journal? The Pasulka Lab is
looking for a student proficient in Matlab to help with the continued development
of a program (and GUI) for the analysis of epifluorescence microscopy images.
This student will engage with scientists collecting data for ecological and
medical related research questions. Interested students should contact Dr.

San Diego
Nanotechnology Infrastructure (SDNI) is hosting a
ten-week Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at UC San Diego. In this
program, students are paired with leading researchers in science and
engineering fields. Research areas include: NanoBioMedicine, NanoPhotonics, and

our projects require any prior technical experience, and they are all looking

This targets senior students and recent graduates
who are interested in doing a Master degree in Computer Science or Engineering
at Sac State. Note that although the selected students will not enroll in the
Master program until Fall 2020, they will be able to start working on the
project immediately as non-student research assistants for up to 19.5 hours per
