Computer Science Department offers tutoring, free of charge, for all students
taking CSC courses. We offer help on all scheduled evenings for students in CSC/CPE
101, 102, 103, or 141. We also do our best to cater to the demand of 357. If
you need help outside of class and your professor's office hours, the tutoring
service is for you.
Tutoring is
offered in 14-302 from Sunday through Thursday, 7-9pm except for holidays
starting Sunday, September 27. Please be prompt. If no students are present
within the first 15 minutes, the tutors will leave.

Engineer Day is an event for 6th through 8th grade students to learn more about
what it means to be an engineer! The day consists of 4 hands-on lab activities
hosted by various engineering clubs on campus. This event provides the students
with a great opportunity to experience different engineering disciplines. But
this can’t happen without your help!

Weekend (5/28-29)
Come join our
awesome alumni for breakfast and learn about their experiences in EWB on
Saturday, May 28th, and after join them on a brewery tour around SLO (those
under 21 are still welcome to join)! On Sunday, May 29th help represent your
project team in an afternoon sports tournament. Then, wrap up the day with our
annual EWB Spring Banquet. Registration for alumni weekend will be $15 for

9. EE112 Offered
Summer 2016 | Register NOW!
EE112 is offered
this summer as a completely on-line course. This on-line course covers the same
material as the on-campus class. The course is offered during the first five
weeks of summer quarter (June 20th to July 22nd). This provides an opportunity
for students to get ahead or “catch-up” during summer quarter without being
physically present at Cal Poly. If interested and you have questions , contact

10. ENGR 459-01
Multidisciplinary Senior Design Project Course
Attention
Engineering Seniors:
We will be
offering a multidisciplinary senior design project course (ENGR 459) this Fall
which involves students from all engineering majors. This is a three-quarter sequence (ENGR
459/460/461) which emphasizes multidisciplinary team collaboration, design, and
innovation skills to work on sponsored design projects requiring multidisciplinary
talents. Students will apply a formal
engineering design process to solve an open-ended design problem and will
design, manufacture, and test solutions to these problems. The course will be offered Tuesdays and
Thursdays 3:10 - 6:00 PM in 197-104 all quarters. Attached is a flyer which includes examples
of previous projects that were run through this class, as well as how this
course counts towards each major's curriculum.

11. MSCI 410 -
Scientific Diving - Summer 2016
Scientific Diving
is a 3 unit, elective course run through the Biology Department. Over the course of ~100 hours you will learn
advanced diving theory and techniques, and how to apply those skills to
underwater sampling techniques on up to 13 dives. Students that successfully complete this course
will earn an American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS) Scientific Diver
certification and possibly a National Association of Underwater Instructors
(NAUI) Master Diver certification.
Successful completion of an AAUS scientific diving class or equivalent
is required to conduct science using scuba diving at Cal Poly and at over 155
Organizational Members of the AAUS.
We will once
again offer Scientific Diving in a condensed, three week format, at the end of
the 10 week Summer session. The class
will tentatively run from Tuesday, August 16th through Friday, September
2nd. This class will not leave much time
for other activities during the week, meeting 8am-5pm, Monday - Friday. The majority of this class involves field
work, so meeting times can be variable (i.e. we may meet before 8am and/or
finish after 5pm depending on conditions).
Due to the nature
of scuba diving and offering MSCI 410 in a condensed format, we need to make
sure that you are ready to take such a demanding course. Enrollment is by permission code only, and
there are a number of prerequisites.
This class is not for the novice scuba diver. It is for divers with at least an Open Water
certification from a nationally recognized scuba certification agency and who
have logged at least 10 dives outside of your certification class. It is recommended that you also have a Rescue
and/or Advanced Scuba certification and have logged at least 20 dives in cold
water. You will be learning new skills
everyday and there may not be enough time to review or redo skills should you
have trouble. Getting enough experience
in before the class will make things much easier during the class. Successful applicants will have to satisfy
the prerequisite requirements and provide specific diver documentation,
including a medical evaluation for scuba diving, as well as provide the
required scuba equipment.
If you are
interested in taking MSCI 410 - Scientific Diving, start by reviewing the
program information on The Safety Stop, the website for Cal Poly's Scientific
Diving program and filling out a Scientific Diving Application form. The application period will remain open until
May 31st, 2016. After receiving student
applications, Cal Poly's Diving Control Board will review the applicants, and
select 8 students for the class.
Students will be selected based on diving experience, seniority, and
need. Need is defined as being an active
participant in a lab that uses scientific diving or planning research using
scientific diving.
In addition to
the Scientific Diving Application, I would like to meet with prospective
candidates, so that we can review the prerequisite requirements together and
make sure that you are on a pathway to be ready for the course when it begins
in August. Unfortunately, the time to
drop this course has passed by the time the class meets so we need to be
reasonably sure that each candidate has the best chance to complete the
course. After filling out an

13. Order of the
Engineer | June 10th | Register NOW!
Celebrate your
success amongst family and friends by joining the Order of the Engineer! The
Order of the Engineer is an association for graduate and professional engineers
in the United States that emphasizes pride and responsibility in the
engineering profession. It is not a membership organization; there are never
any meetings to attend or dues to pay. Instead, the Order fosters a unity of
purpose and the honoring of one's pledge.
At the ceremony,
you will take an oath in which you promise to be an ethical engineer. Then,
Dean Larson will induct you with a ring and certificate. The ring is worn on
your pinky finger of your dominate hand. It will make a *clink* noise when you
sign you name of documents which will remind you to always be an ethical
engineer.
You can register
here or at the Engineering Dean's Office as well as at our table in front of
the library (11AM-1PM on May 16th, 18th, 24th, and 26th). The deadline to
register is May 26th and the ceremony will take place form 4-6PM on June 10th.
