1. Sustainability Task Force is a new group seeking to enhance Cal Poly's EWB Chapter. Through working on projects related to social, economic, cross-generational and environmental sustainability, we want to ensure that our chapter is fulfilling its purpose of "equipping leaders to solve some of the world's most pressing challenges". The STF meets at 6pm on Mondays in Building 53, room 202 (India Room).

Project Meetings are every Monday 7pm!

2. IMPACT meets every Tuesday at 6:30 pm at one of the Library 2nd floor fishbowls. Come by if you want to make a difference locally by volunteering in SLO!

3. Intramural Soccer will be held Wednesday this weekbecause of the Super Bowl! It will be at 10:30 pm. In order to play, please bring a white shirt and black shirt!

4. EWB Tea Time is every Friday 10-12pm at the 2nd floor of the Library facing the front, near the bookshelves. Come chat and enjoy some tea with President Dan, VP Beth, and the occasional officer!

Opportunities

Interested in studying abroad? Take a class with Professor Karen Bangs from Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME), in Bilbao, Spain during July of 2017. Karen will be teaching an Operations Management course (Quality Management, Lean Systems, Product & Service Design, Project Management and a few other topics). This course can fulfill a technical elective requirement for you (if you're ME with general & MfgE concentration, MATE, ENVE, BMED, GENE, COB-IT, MfgE). The University of Colorado Boulder's Mortenson Center in Engineering for Developing Communities is hosting its annual Colorado Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Symposium in beautiful Boulder this March 7-8, 2017. Registration is FREE. Rumor has it we've got a bunch of Cal Poly grads in Boulder who's couch you can crash on :). 5. Sigma Phi Delta Events

Sigma Phi Delta & Smash Club Fundraiser For Local Robotics
Sigma Phi Delta, Cal Poly's Professional Engineering Fraternity, and the SLO Smash Club are working together to raise money for a local FIRST Robotics tournament. Come out for a fun day of Smash Bros for a good cause.

Sigma Phi Delta is back at Blaze Pizza to help Cal Poly's team working on breaking a WORLD RECORD for the fastest solar car. Come out on Feb 25h with the flyer above to raise money for a great cause.

6. Mobile App Develop Event

Project Meeting
When: Saturday, February 11th, 1-4PM
Where: Bldg 180 Rm 113 (Baker)
Interested in learning Android or iOS but don't know where to start? Join us this Saturday from 1-4 PM in room 180-113 to work with other club members on building your first app! Bring your laptop and be ready to start building great apps. Email us at calpolyappdev@gmail.com for more information.

Project Updates
This past Saturday we made progress towards completing our first apps as a club! Our iOS team polished their existing features while learning how to implement additional features. Our Android team finished dividing their app and began to conquer it through the agile approach.

7. Keynote speaker for E-Week

Next Monday we will have a fascinating Keynote speaker for E-Week. Mark Newton is a Civil Engineering alumnus, who now works in post-production. He will share his career path, and how he applies engineering in unconventional ways during his presentation at 4pm next Monday in the ATL.

8. E-Week Activities – February 13 – 17

Engineering Student Council's annual E-Week is February 13-17. Below are two highlights:

Monday February 13 at 4pm in the ATL: Mark Newton, a civil engineering alumnus, will present on his career journey from civil engineer to Hollywood post-production. A flyer on this specific event will follow next week.

Wednesday February 15 at 6pm in the ATL: Northrop Grumman Night Games. Please refer to the second flyer for registration information.

9. IATPP Digital Democracy Project Opening

IATPP Digital Democracy Project has an immediate opening for paid student developers. Work on this important government transparency project while you go to school.

Preferred skills: Databases / MySQL, Python Programming, Java Programming, Web programming

Preferred availability: 10-20 hours during academic year and 40 hours
per week over summer 2017

10. Nano/Bioengineering Paid Research Internship

Are you an undergraduate who might be interested in the nanoengineering, bioengineering career path? How would you like to come to UC San Diego for a 10 week paid research internship?
Research is an excellent opportunity to become more engaged in your field of study and interact with faculty members in prospective graduate schools. The University of California San Diego SDNI REU program offers undergraduates the opportunity to conduct a ten-week intensive research experience.
