SWE Phone-a-Thon
When: Friday, February 24 and Friday, March 3 from 5 pm to 8 pm

It's college acceptance season! Come join SWE to congratulate conditionally admitted female Cal Poly engineering students and invite them to Cal Poly Open House and SWE Welcome in the spring. SWE Phone-a-thon will be held on Friday, February 24th and Friday, March, 3rd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm. Kaiser Permanente Information Session
When:  Thursday, March 2, 6:10 - 7:00 pm

Join Cal Poly SWE and WISH for an Information Session with Kaiser Permanente. They will be bringing hiring managers and engineers to discuss open positions for full time and internship opportunities. Food will be provided!

Meet Theresa Miller (CIO and EVP of Information Technology at Lionsgate) and hear about her experiences as a female leader in tech. Network and get your questions answered in a casual setting.

2. Workout Party

Come join your fellow WISH members to relax and burn off some stress at an exercise class!

6. SF Abortion Access Hackathon
Where: Github, 88 Colin P Kelly Jr St, San Francisco, California 94107
When: Friday, March 3rd at 7pm - Sunday, March 5th at 7pm
Please save the date for the San Francisco Abortion Access Hackathon, hosted by Women's Health Specialists of California. We are gathering techies, media experts, legal analysts, and grassroots activists for a think tank to develop innovative solutions to supporting the work of abortion funds and providers. Join us for a weekend of collaboration, hacking, and of course free food.

Hackathon applications are closed. Opportunities for remote participation and other ways to get involved will be made available closer to the event.

7. Bonfire

Come out for WISH's quarterly bonfire! Hang out and eat s'mores, meet up with your mentor or mentee, and mingle with other fantastic WISH members!

Rabobank wants to hear from students looking for internship opportunities. They are building a central coast internship program and would like your input. There will be food.

1.  Sustainability Task Force is a new group seeking to enhance Cal Poly's EWB Chapter. Through working on projects related to social, economic, cross-generational and environmental sustainability, we want to ensure that our chapter is fulfilling its purpose of "equipping leaders to solve some of the world's most pressing challenges". The STF meets at 6pm this Tuesday in Building 53, room 202 (India Room).

Project Meetings are this Tuesday 7pm!

2IMPACT meets this Thursday at 6:30 pm at one of the Library 2nd floor fishbowls. Come by if you want to make a difference locally by volunteering in SLO!

3. EWB Tea Time is every Friday 10-12pm at the 2nd floor of the Library facing the front, near the bookshelves. Come chat and enjoy some tea with President Dan, VP Beth, and the occasional officer!

4. Join us for the EWB Winter Olympics on Sunday atnoon in Montana de Oro! There will be sand boarding, music, and other fun and games! There will be a fastest sled winner, most creative sled winner, and the judges choice winner. Come and support your project team! Remember in spring quarter the team with the most points gets a free EWB Olympics shirt!! Please sign up,

Intramural Soccer is every Sunday at the turf fields from 5:30-6:30 pm. Come play soccer with your EWB friends! In order to play, please bring a white shirt and black shirt!

Opportunities

Interested in studying abroad? Take a class with Professor Karen Bangs from Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME), in Bilbao, Spain during July of 2017. Karen will be teaching an Operations Management course (Quality Management, Lean Systems, Product & Service Design, Project Management and a few other topics). This course can fulfill a technical elective requirement for you (if you're ME with general & MfgE concentration, MATE, ENVE, BMED, GENE, COB-IT, MfgE). Contact Karen at

The University of Colorado Boulder's Mortenson Center in Engineering for Developing Communities is hosting its annual Colorado Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Symposium in beautiful Boulder this March 7-8, 2017. Registration is FREE. Rumor has it we've got a bunch of Cal Poly grads in Boulder who's couch you can crash on :). 5. Sigma Phi Delta Events

Sigma Phi Delta's PROVE Labs Fundraiser 
Sigma Phi Delta is back at Blaze Pizza to help Cal Poly's team working on breaking a WORLD RECORD for the fastest solar car. Come out on Feb 25h with the flyer above to raise money for a great cause.

6. Summer Program in Spain

Come enjoy a fantastic summer educational experience in Spain. The Universidad deNavarra offers a summer program open to Cal Poly students. The program consists of a 2- week technical course (~2 units with more available through independent study) and a 3-week language and culture class (4 unit GE C1 or C2). This year you can choose from “Engineering Across Cultures” or “Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency” for the technical course. These courses are taught at the engineering campus of the Universidad deNavarra, Tecnun, in San Sebastián in the heart of the Basque country. The technical classes run from June 27th to July 7th. The language and culture class is for the first time being offered in Barcelona! This class is tracked for several levels of ability in Spanish. It will run from July 10th to July 28th. 7. Student Safety Technician

Be a part of developing and instilling a safety culture throughout the College of Engineering. You'll have the chance to work with faculty, staff, and students; identify and develop best practices regarding safety in labs, projects and research; and participate in and conduct safety walks (also known as safety audits) across the college. The job is posted on Mustang Jobs as well as attached here. You can apply on Mustang Jobs or send your resume and cover letter to Karen Bangs (CENG Faculty Safety Coordinator) at krbangs@calpoly.edu. The position is open and workload is expected to be approximately 10 hours per week during the academic year (flexible to your academic schedule). It will continue into next year. She will be accepting resumes through February 28th.
