2. Special Course Offerings for Winter 2020:
EE 470/471
Professor John Oliver will
be teaching EE 470/471: Computer
Forensics, Adversarial Thinking and Research this upcoming Winter 2020
Quarter. If you are interested in this special topics course, see the attached
flyer here.
*****
EE 271
If you want to get experience in C and C++
programming, we have two EE271 3-hour lab sections offered Monday Nights from
6-9PM in winter 2020.
*****
EE 541
In this two unit Advanced
Microwave Laboratory, we build an entire radar system. Raytheon is
sponsoring all of the costs for the lab. This is really a do-everything
lab where you learn about
transmitters, receivers, antennas, signal processing techniques
and software to make the radar system work. The lab course is very
electronics construction and system characterization intensive.
*****
EE
529
Microwave Device Electronics
is a class where we learn about advanced semiconductor device theory and it
also includes a lab for the first time this year. This course takes over from where EE306 leaves off in coverage in descriptions
of semiconductor devices. You will really understand how transistors, diodes,
optical devices and high frequency transistors operate after this course is done. In the lab we will characterize
high frequency diodes, Heterostructure Bipolar Transistors and High Electron
Mobility transistors.
*****
EE
530
In this Fourier
Optics course,
we explore the question “When the light does not travel straight, how do we handle it?
Fourier Optics is variedly used in imaging, diffraction, optical data
processing, holography and optical communication, and it is one of the basic
theories in optical field. Fourier optics is the study of classical optics
using Fourier transforms, in which the wave is regarded as a superposition of
plane waves that are not related to any identifiable sources; instead they are
the natural modes of the propagation medium itself.
*****
EE 531
Advanced VSLI
Designs—Advanced
Very Large Scale Integrated (VLSI) design using state-of-the-art software.
Advanced topics in digital, analog and mixed signal circuit design to enable a
quarter-long design project culminating in a tapeout-ready integrated circuit
design.
